In February 2000, Plano earned AAA bond ratings from all three major rating firms: Moody's, Standard & Poor's, and Fitch IBCA. It is rare for a city to earn all three. Two other Texas cities, Dallas and Irving, both in the metroplex, have earned AAA ratings from two rating firms: Moody's and Standard & Poor.

Besides being a home for large corporations, Plano was the #1 city in the country for starting and growing a home-based business for two years in a row. In the 1990s, it was the second fastest growing city in the US for cities over 100,000 population, and it has over 100,000 jobs within its city limits.

It is also rated as one of the safest cities in the country with an outstanding police department, and Plano's fire department is one of only 32 nationally to have earned the coveted Class I ISO rating. That means our fire insurance premiums are the lowest around. Come visit us at Plano's Public Internet Exchange,ThePIE
