The first time you call your personal DVM voice mail number, the system will guide you through a sequence of steps for the initial setup. You will only go through initial setup one time. You may make future changes through the Mailbox Options featured in the Main Menu of your DVM mailbox.
The system will guide you through the initial setup with easy to understand voice prompts and instructions. To review the steps you will follow read the following paragraphs. The following steps appear exactly as they will appear in the tutorial.
Call your DVM voice mail number. When your mailbox answers, you will hear the following recording:
"Welcome to the voice mail system for the person you have called. Please leave a message at the tone."
Press 9 during this message to begin your mailbox tutorial.
NOTE: if you have Extended
or Business Level Service, see the Additional Instructions
page before you begin.
Step Number 1: We will begin by recording your spoken name. The system will use this recording to identify your mailbox to callers and other users of this system. When told to do so, just speak naturally. Remember to relax and be yourself. You can re-record your name as often as you like, so, do not be concerned if you are not satisfied the first time. Now, we are ready to record your spoken name. (Pause)... At the tone, please say your name, then press the # key. (The system will repeat your recorded name for you to hear.) If the spoken name is correct press 1, or if you would like to re-record your spoken name, press 2.
Step Number 2: Now we have reached the point when you will be asked to record your personal greeting. Your personal greeting is the greeting callers will hear when they call your mailbox. When told to do so, record your personal greeting. Do not be concerned if you do not like your first attempt. You can re-record your greeting as often as you like. Now, we are ready to record your personal greeting. At the tone, record your personal greeting, then press the # key. (The system will repeat your personal greeting for you to hear). If the recording personal greeting is correct press 1, or if you would like to re-enter your personal greeting press 2.
Step Number 3: Next we will define your personal password. The password will consist of up to 10 digits. Valid digits are tones 0 through 9, and cannot include the star or pound keys. This is the password that you will use to gain access to your mailbox to listen to messages or make desired changes. You are the only person with access to your password, and you may change it as often as you like. Now, we are ready to select your personal password. Please enter your personal four-to-ten-digit password now. (Pause while you enter your new password. The system will repeat the number for validation purposes.) Your password is ___. If this is correct, enter 1 now. If you would like to re-enter your password, enter 2 now.
Step Number 4: We have reached the final step of your mailbox quick setup. This step defines which telephone number you want called when new messages arrive in your mailbox. There are two basic types on notification. The first is pager or beeper notification, while the second would be notification to your office or home telephone number. If you would like notification setup, please answer the following questions. (If you would like to defer notification setup, enter the pound key when prompted to enter the notification number.) Enter the phone number to call when new messages are received, for pause press star and when finished press the pound key. To cancel this new notification entry, press only the pound key. (The system will repeat the number for validation purposes.) Notification at ___-___-____. If the phone number is correct press 1, or if you would like to re-enter the number, press 2. To cancel this new notification entry, press only the pound key.
(It is important for us to know whether the notification is to a beeper or pager or if it is to a home or office number.) If this specified phone number dials a pager press 1, or if the phone number rings a telephone press 2. To cancel this new notification entry, press only the pound key.
(Next is time of notification.) If you would like to be notified at this number every day press 1, for weekdays only press 2, and for weekends only press 3. The new message notification has been added. If you would like to record a custom notification prompt press 1, otherwise press 2.
We hope you enjoy your DVM voice mailbox. Please call us if you have problems or just want to ask how to do something that we have not explained in our literature.
